LightWRITER keyboard configurations
The SL35, SL38, SL5x, SL55 and SL56 and SL87 LightWRITERs are supplied with raised keys in QWERTY layout (unless ordered with ABCD layout). The keyboard layout can be changed and the physical configuration of the keys can be changed.
configuration of keys

If the raised key configuration (shown above) is unsuitable, the keyboard
surround can be raised using the green spacers supplied with
the unit. The raised keyboard surround provides a low-rise support
(shown below) for people who may have slightly inaccurate key selection. This is sometimes called the shallow keyguard.

The deep keyguard (shown below) provides additional assistance for people who need to stabilize on the keyboard, and/or it can provide assistance for selecting the required key.

keyboard layout
The keys can be arranged in QWERTY or ABCDE layout. This can be carried out prior to supply or at any time in the SL35, SL38, SL87 and SL56. The layout must be specified at the time of ordering for the SL5x and SL55.
